Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I just have a standard NHS test?

The government website states that fit-to-fly certificates cannot be provided by the NHS Test and Trace testing service. You must use a private company that provides tests. We offer private testing with UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) approved laboratories. A certificate, written and signed by one of our NHS General Medical Council certified doctors, will be provided upon confirming a negative test deeming you as fit-to-fly. Similarly for the day 2, 5 or 8 tests the NHS tests should not be used and you must use a private company to provide the testing.

Will my results still arrive on time during weekends?

Yes, we deliver results on time even on weekends. Our laboratory is seven days a week. Postal times may however be effected over the weekends for mail test kits.

I am unable to pay for my test online

Please check your billing address is the correct one for the card you are using. You can try to pay using another payment method, for instance Paypal if you have an account. Otherwise, please get in touch with us and we can send you a payment link or contact your bank adviser to check with them.

What is your refunds policy?

If you have booked a fit to fly test or test to release test through a testing site, you can cancel your test as long as you have notified us before the day of your test and there will be no administration charge for cancellation.

If you have booked a fit to fly or test to release home test kit and the kit has not been sent out a refund will be issued with no administration charge.

If you have booked a fit to fly or test to release home test kit and the kit has been sent out a refund will be issued if the kit has not been opened and you send the kit back to us using tracked postage and with proof of postage. Please contact our team for further guidance if you would like a refund and need to send the kit back to us. There will be a £10 administration charge for a cancellation of a postal fit to fly/test to release kit once we have sent the kit out.

If you have booked a day 2 or day 2/8 test, then we will have issued a Passenger Locator Form number (same as booking reference number we issue) and there are no refunds once this number has been issued. If your travel plans have changed and you are coming to the UK at a different date you can use the travel locator form number for when you do come, please get in touch with us and we will arrange for delivery according to your arrival date.

Do your labs meet the UKAS standards?

Yes! All our laboratories carry out stringent testing in-line with UKAS guidance (United Kingdom Accreditation Service). The process is overseen by our experienced NHS General Medical Council certified doctors.

Can I get my test result on the same day?

We offer a same day express service for those who require urgent results as long as you have your test before 10am on that particular day and only currently at our High Wycombe branch. Contact our customer service team to book this on sales@101testing.co.uk or call 02034888434

Can I cancel my test?

If you have booked a fit to fly/test to release test through a testing site, you can cancel your test as long as you have notified us before the day of your test and there will be no administration charge for cancellation.

If you have booked a fit to fly/test to release home test kit a refund will be issued if the kit has not been opened and you send the kit back to us using tracked postage and with proof of postage. Please contact our team for further guidance if you would like a refund and need to send the kit back to us. There will be a £10 administration charge for a cancellation of a postal kit.

When will I get my results?

We will get your results and certificate to you by 1159pm the following day if you either book through one of our testing sites or drop off at a testing site.

If you post the test back using the Royal Mail 24 tracked label, this typically takes one working day but can take longer over the weekends and we therefore recommend that you drop the sample off at a testing site on the weekends. We get our samples from our testing sites to the laboratories on the same evening or the following morning therefore greatly reducing transit times. Please do see our How It Works page for further information and guidance on sending the samples back and which mailboxes to use in order to get sooner results.

Can I take part in Test to Release if I live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland?

No, Test to Release is only applicable to people living in England.

Do I have to self-isolate during the 5 days?

Yes. The test to release test is for those people arriving to the UK who are not fully vaccinated under an approved vaccination programme and therefore would need to quarantine for ten days. You must therefore self isolate for the five days upto the test to release test and can only be released from quarantine if and when your test is negative.

Am I able to travel to a testing hub if I’m in quarantine?

Yes, you are able to travel for the purposes of testing whilst in quarantine after arrival back to the UK so you can travel to a testing hub for the Test to Release test or the day 2/8 test whilst in quarantine.

Is Test to Release mandatory?

The test to release programme is not mandatory. It is for those travellers arriving to the UK who are not fully vaccinated under an approved vaccination programme. You may choose to forego test to release and simply quarantine for 10 days upon your arrival to England. The purpose is to free you from quarantine early. The day 2 or day 2/8 tests after arrival are mandatory.

How will I know when my results are ready?

You will receive email notification when your results are ready, you will then need to login to your account to check your results and download your certificate.

How can I perform the test myself?

Do not worry, all of our home tests come with very clear instructions. You can always contact our customer service team on orders@101testing.co.uk or on phone if you need any help. Please also check the ‘How It Works’ page of the website. Please make sure that you read the instruction form carefully and that you complete the check list at the end of your instruction sheet.

What happens if I do not register my test?

If you do not register your test, it will come back to our lab but we won’t be able to know that it is yours and you will not get your results.

You will need to pay for a replacement test – please get in touch with our team and we can organise this for you.

What does fully vaccinated mean?

What you need to do when you travel to England depends on whether you qualify as fully vaccinated or not.

To qualify under the fully vaccinated rules for travel to England, you must have been fully vaccinated with a full course of an approved vaccine under:

The common travel area is the UK, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, and Ireland. All British Overseas Territories are NOT included in the list. For more information, please visit the government website.

How accurate are your tests?

Our PCR tests are 98.5% sensitive and 99% specific.

Tests are evaluated on several criteria, in particular their sensitivity and their specificity:

● Sensitivity: The sensitivity of a test is also called the true positive rate (TPR) and is the proportion of samples that are genuinely positive that give a positive result using the test in question. Our tests are 98.5% sensitive.
● The specificity of a test, also referred to as the true negative rate (TNR), is the proportion of samples that test negative using the test in question that are genuinely negative. Our tests are 99% specific.
The tests selected have been proven to show excellent performance, double checked by internal studies and have been validated by international scientific bodies
